Thank you for considering The Perkins School. We want to make our admissions process as easy as possible for parents. We encourage you to call us if you have any questions.

All forms, links, and documents are available on Ravenna. This is a platform shared by most Puget Sound independent schools to streamline the admissions process for parents. If you prefer, we are happy to send you our documents to use instead of those on the Ravenna platform.

Feel free to contact us to seek clarity, ask questions, or to chat. We are here to help.

Information Session (required) and Campus Tour (optional)

Our Information Sessions are virtual, last about 90 minutes, and are a required part of our application process. They are your first step in learning about our community, our approach to learning, and what sets Perkins apart.  Barry, our Head of School, will join us for a Q&A session.

Please note: Our last Information Session will be Monday, January 29, 9:30 - 11:00 via Zoom.

Perkins had offered parents the opportunity to tour our campus and watch classrooms in action. Unfortunately, our last campus tour was January 10.

Attend a Parent Open House - Highly Recommended (optional)

Our Parent Open House is completely different from our Information Sessions and Campus Tours. Teachers will present information about their curriculum and approach to working with students. You’ll get a sense of a typical day at Perkins and have an opportunity to chat with teachers 1:1.

For parents attending the January 20 Open House, the application due date is extended to January 29. We want parents to have the opportunity to attend an Open House before they apply, confident they will find the event compelling and useful. Open Houses are for adults only.

  • Saturday, November 4, 2023: 9:00 - 10:45 a.m.

  • Saturday, January 20, 2024: 9:00 - 10:45 a.m.

After Applying, Schedule a Parent Meeting (required)

We invite you to meet with our Admissions Director, Angie, for an informal conversation. This is an opportunity for you to ask general questions and ones more specific to your child, and to share your goals and desires for your child’s education and learning environment. Meetings last approximately 45 minutes. You will be able to choose whether to meet in person at Perkins or to meet via Zoom.

The following need to occur at least one week prior to your Parent Meeting.

  1. At least one parent has attended an Information Session (the last one is January 29; see above for link)

  2. Preliminary Application has been received

  3. PSIS common Parent/Guardian Statement has been received

  4. Teacher Recommendation has been received

Student Visit (required)

Kindergarten - Kindergarten applicants will be invited to join us in small groups on campus on March 9, 2024 to participate in a variety of fun activities led by our Kindergarten and 1st grade teachers. Additional details will be shared prior to the visit.

1st - 5th Grades - Older students typically visit us in February during school hours. These visits are an opportunity for applicants to experience a day in the life of a Perkins student. More details will be provided in January, and we work closely with parents in the timing of their child’s campus visit.

Coffee Chats (optional)

After submitting your application, you will be invited to join one of several Coffee Chats with a few Perkins Parents. This is an opportunity to ask current parents about their child’s experience at Perkins and to meet other families who are applying this year.

Dates for Coffee Chats will be shared by email in January. Chats typically occur in February.

The Perkins School admits students of any race, color, national or ethnic origin and any other legally protected status to all the rights, privileges, programs and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school.
